There is also a free 3 hour basic supervisor skills classed <br /> offered by our employee assistance program available during the year. <br /> When an employee is a new supervisor or is new to the organization in a <br /> supervisor position they are contacted by central HR with several support <br /> resources: <br /> 1-Within a couple of weeks of starting their new position they and their supervisor <br /> are sent an information email with electronic resources attached. <br /> 2-The Performance and Development Manager meets with the new supervisor to <br /> give them hard copies of some key information on resources around HR ,Risk and <br /> Finance processes. They also review the on-line WebPages, locations of contracts <br /> etc. , <br /> 3-They are requested to attend supervisor orientation, a 20 hour introductory <br /> session offered twice a ear. <br /> Y <br /> 4-They begin to register for required and recommended supervisory classes as <br /> they are scheduled in the central training calendar. <br /> Custom supervisory training can be arranged at anytime with the HRRS resource <br /> person who manages that process for the organization. Self study and resources <br /> on specific topics are available in several formats: self-study, audio cassette, <br /> videos. Also Pertormance and Development will do research on external <br /> development opportunities as requested by a supervisor and their manager. <br /> One-on-one coaching on specific issues is also available through the department <br /> and central HR. <br /> All employees attend an orientation class, which reviews how the City of Eugene is <br /> structured, its mission and values and the basic benefits available to the <br /> employees.
