employee. <br /> 5) If a grievance involves employees from different work sections, <br /> or if the issue involves a subject that could have a broad impact <br /> across work sections, the Union may request of the Human Resources <br /> Division Manager to start the grievance at Step 2 or 3 as appropriate. <br /> 35.6 GRIEVANCE STEPS <br /> STEP 1 <br /> <br /> 'i a. The employee will first attempt to informally resolve the issue with <br /> her/his immediate supervisor within fourteen (14) days from the occurrence <br /> or reasonable knowledge thereof. This informal discussion should include <br /> specific facts upon which the grievance is based and the remedy sought. <br /> b. In the event such an attempt is not successful, the employee may meet <br /> with the supervisor for a second informal meeting and may request a person <br /> of her/his choosing to attend the meeting. <br /> c. If this attempt is not successful, the employee may submit within this <br /> time period a written notice to the supervisor and a copy to the Union, <br /> including: <br /> 1) statement of the grievance and relevant facts; <br /> 2) the policy, procedure, or the specific contract provisions in <br /> question; and <br /> 3) remedy sought. <br /> d. The supervisor will respond to the employee in writing within seven <br /> (7) days, with a copy to the Chief Steward. <br /> STEP 2 <br /> a. If the issue remains unresolved, it maybe submitted in writing to the <br /> Division Manager within seven (7) days from receipt of the supervisor's <br /> reply. <br /> b. At this step, the Union will notify the Division Manager and Human <br /> Resource Division Manager, in writing, of the contract clauses in question <br /> prior to the meeting. <br /> c. The Division Manager or designee shall meet with the employee and <br /> her/his immediate supervisor within seven (7) days. The employee may <br /> request a Union representative to be at the meeting. The Division Manager <br /> will respond to the issue in writing within seven (7) days, with a copy to the <br /> Chief Steward. <br /> <br />
