<br /> 'j _ <br /> I <br /> i <br /> General Employment Guidelines <br /> i <br /> If you are a represented employees, you will need to refer to the appropriate contract <br /> provisions in addition to the information below; specific contract provisions may differ <br /> from these policies. <br /> Employee Definitions <br /> Regular Full-Time Employees: As a full-time employee, you work forty hours per week, <br /> twelve months per year. <br /> Regular Part-Time Employees: As a part-time employee, you work at least half of the <br /> available hours in a pay period for twelve months per year. <br /> Exempt (non-represented) Employees: If you are an exempt employee, your position is <br /> not represented by a union. <br /> ! Conf<dential Non-represented Employees: A confidential non-represented employee is <br /> one who assists and acts in a confidential capacity to one who formulates, determines, <br /> and effectuates management policies in the area of collective bargaining. <br /> ~ (APPM Section 3-120) <br /> i <br /> Probationary Period-(APPM Section 3-146) <br /> During your probationary period as a new employee, you can be disciplined and/or discharged <br /> from employment for any lawful reason without warning. Non-represented employees serve a <br /> Ii 12-month probationary period. The probationary period may be extended by your supervisor for <br /> an additional 3 to 6 months. <br /> 1 Attendance <br /> Tardiness and absenteeism detract from the efficiency and service level of City departments. If you <br /> cannot report to work at your regular starting time, notify your supervisor before your work shift <br /> begins. Failure to report for work and/or excessive tardiness or absences are grounds for <br /> disciplinary action which could lead to termination. All absences from work must be accurately <br /> ' reported on your time sheet with the time, date, and appropriate code. <br /> ` Job-Sharing-( APPM Section 3-121.3). <br /> A full-time job can be filled by two part-time employees if this arrangement does not negatively <br /> impact the department's operation. Contact your supervisor if you are interested in a job-share <br /> arrangement. <br /> Other Employment Within the City <br /> As non-represented/confidential part-time employees you may work at a second part-time job <br /> within the City, as long as you do not regularly work more than full time in a week. This can be <br /> regular part-time work or temporary work through the City or through a temporary agency. You <br /> are also responsible for notifying both supervisors before you work overtime in a work week. <br /> As a regular non-represented/exempt part-time employee, you may work at another non- <br /> represented/exempt part-time job within the City, but you may only work in an additional <br /> temporary job under specific conditions. <br /> Page 12 <br /> i <br /> <br />
