Remember that the appearance of impropriety can be as damaging. as <br /> actual impropriety and should also be avoided. <br /> The City encourages citizens of Eugene to volunteer their time, services and <br /> financial support to our departments and programs. Employees should take the <br /> time to recognize contributions to our organizations. Employees may not, <br /> however, grant special favors, exceptions, or fail to take appropriate action with a <br /> citizen because of his or her contributions. City employees are expected to be <br /> fair and judicious in the execution of their duties. <br /> SEE: Administrative order regarding gifts to employees (8/13/91) available from <br /> the office of the city recorder. <br /> 3-215 Outside Employment (Revised 10/93) <br /> Employees who wish to accept additional employment while working for the City <br /> must request written permission of their department executive manager to do so. <br /> It is understood that: <br /> a) Extra duty required by City employment will have preference over outside <br /> employment. <br /> b) Compensation through the City will not be received for illnesses or injuries <br /> resulting from outside employment. <br /> c) Under no circumstances may City equipment or resources be used in <br /> outside employment. <br /> d) The Department Executive Manager may at any time revoke permission to <br /> hold outside employment. <br /> In order to be approved, the outside employment must meet the following <br /> criteria: <br /> a) Outside employment must not detract from the efficiency of the employee <br /> in his/her work; <br /> b) Outside employment must not be a discredit to City employment; <br /> c) Outside employment must not create a conflict of interest with the <br /> employee's City job; and <br /> d) An employee cannot be a contractor or asub-contractor on City projects, <br /> where the work. performed is similar to the employee's City job. <br /> Human Resource and Risk Services Revised: 09/16/02 <br /> <br />
