City of Eugene <br /> Human Resource and Risk Services Policies <br /> <br /> j provide college and high school students an opportunity to earn salaries <br /> working with outside agencies in positions that provide on-the-job training <br /> related to their major. Students receive credit for their work experience <br /> and are paid at least minimum wage. <br /> College Work Study (CWS) is a federally funded program providing <br /> financial aid and part-time employment to students who meet the criteria <br /> for federal assistance. College Work Study funds are 75 percent federal <br /> funds and 25 percent college matching funds. The city (an off campus <br /> employer) pays at least 25 percent matching monies plus 5 percent <br /> administrative costs. <br /> It is important to note that regulations governing the College Work Study <br /> program clearly state that the work study students cannot be used to <br /> replace or perform services that would otherwise be performed by regular <br /> employees. <br /> 3-123:4 Career Development (Revised 07/01/02) <br /> Program Guidelines <br /> The Career Development Assistance Program is available to assist employees in <br /> developing their knowledge, skills, and abilities through a variety of tools, <br /> resources, and opportunities. <br /> Eli ibility <br /> 1. There are a variety of career development resources and opportunities <br /> available to regular employees who have passed probation. These <br /> employees may file a formal Career Development _Plan or apply for a <br /> career development assignment. They may use any information in the <br /> Career Development Library in HRRS. In addition, the City's EAP is a <br /> resource to assist employees in identifying their career interests and goals. <br /> Recruitment and Selection staff in HRRS are also available to assist <br /> employees with career development planning. <br /> 2. Employees on probation may use any of the resources in the Career <br /> Development Library in HRRS. Employees are encouraged to use the Career <br /> Development Checklist form to document any training or related educational <br /> events related to their career interests.
