City of Eugene <br /> ,Human Resource and Risk Services Policies <br /> 3-840 MILITARY_LEAVE (Revised 10/24/97) <br /> <br /> I <br /> ! 3-840.1 Annual Training Leave <br /> Employees who have worked for the City for six (6) months are entitled to a <br /> military leave of absence with pay not to exceed. fifteen (15) calendar days in any <br /> one training year for annual active duty for training as a member of the National <br /> Guard, National Guard Reserve or any reserve component of the U.S. Armed <br /> i Forces, or of the U.S. Public Health Service. A training year means the federal <br /> ~ fiscal year for any particular unit of the National Guard or a reserve component. <br /> i Such leaves are granted without loss of other leave and without impairment of <br /> other rights or benefits, providing the employee receives bona fide orders to <br /> training duty for a temporary period and providing they return to their position <br /> immediately upon expiration of the period of ordered duty. <br /> .SEE: ORS 408.290 <br /> I <br /> 3-840.2 Military Leave While on Active Duty <br /> ~,I The following policies apply when employees are called up for active duty for <br /> leaves of more than 15 calendar days. Unless the employee dies, resigns or is <br /> relieved or discharged from duty under other than honorable conditions, the <br /> employee will be considered on military leave for up to the maximum amount of <br /> time specified in ORS 408.240. While on military leave the City will not provide <br /> salary or benefits. Employees are entitled to return to their former positions after <br /> a military leave. <br /> 3-840.21 Leave Without Pay While on Military Leave (Revised 08/09/02) <br /> Leave without pay is allowed in accordance with ORS 408.240 for <br /> employees who enter military service for extended periods of active duty. <br /> City policy requires employees going on leave without pay to use all <br /> appropriate personal leave before LWOP can begin (APPM 3-870). <br /> However, employees who are called up for active military duty have the <br /> following options: <br /> 1) have their personal leave accruals (vacation, holiday, comp time) <br /> paid off before going on active military duty, subject to the <br /> Executive Manager's approval and the department's ability to pay; <br /> or <br /> Human Resource and Risk Services <br /> Revised: 08/09/02 <br /> <br />
