Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Transportation Reimbursement Accounts (TRA) <br />FSA: The City offers Flexible Spending Accounts for regular employees. You may voluntarily defer <br />a portion of your salary into a Health Care Account and/or Dependent Care Account. You may <br />enroll in the program within 30 days of hire or during the annual open enrollment period held each <br />December. <br />In the Dependent Care Account, you may defer up to $5,000 per year for dependent care expenses <br />which are necessary to allow you to work. <br />In the Health Care Account, you may defer up to $2,400 per year to pay for medical, dental and <br />vision expenses which are not reimbursable by health insurance plans. <br />TRA: Through a Transportation Reimbursement Account, you can pay for certain transportation <br />expenses with before-tax dollars. <br />For more information on these programs, see the HRRS Intranet site <br />(http://ceonline/HRRS/RISK/Benefits/FSATRA.htm), or contact HRRS. <br />Social Security <br />You and the City contribute equally to your Social Security account. Social Security provides <br />retirement income and/or disability or survivor's benefits. Several months before you decide to <br />retire, you should contact the local Social Security office. <br />Credit Union <br />As a City of Eugene employee you are eligible for membership in the a number of local credit <br />unions, including the Public Employees Federal Credit Union and SELCO. <br />Page 27-February 2004 <br />
