Management Vacation <br />Exempt employees often work more than their scheduled hours to do what is necessary to get their <br />job done. In acknowledgment of this working condition, the City has established policies and <br />benefits to partially compensate exempt employees for this extra work requirement. The benefits <br />that are provided are additional vacation time and under limited circumstances, flexible scheduling, <br />additional compensatory time off or overtime pay at 1.5:1 or 1:1 depending on the working <br />conditions. This policy does not attempt to provide full compensation for all hours worked in excess <br />of the 40 hour work week. <br />The Management Vacation benefit is in addition your regular vacation benefit. Full-time employees <br />are eligible for 5, 7, or 10 days of exempt vacation per year. Part-time employees receive a pro- <br />rated management vacation benefit based on their regular scheduled work hours. <br />If you are a supervisors who is required to work side by side with a crew or a work group that is <br />eligible for 1:1.5 overtime pay, you receive five exempt vacation days per year. In addition, you are <br />eligible for overtime pay or compensatory time off at 1:1.5 whenever you are working side by side <br />with a work group receiving 1:1.5 pay and the work hours are outside the supervisor's regular work <br />shift. <br />Certain exempt police and fire supervisory classifications are eligible for five days management <br />vacation per year plus paid overtime at 1:1.5 This overtime benefit is to be granted when the <br />supervisor must be available for team-related duties such as crime investigations and responding to <br />emergencies; administrative supervisory duties and preparing for shifts or briefings are accounted <br />for with the exempt vacation benefit. <br />Employees who fill professional positions are eligible for a management vacation benefit of seven <br />days per year. <br />Employees who fill managerial positions are eligible for a management vacation benefit of ten days <br />per year. <br />Management Vacation Accrual <br />You can take your Management Vacation time just like regular vacation time. After 6 months of <br />employment, and with approval by your Executive Manager, you may request that your <br />management vacation accruals are paid off. Management vacation payoff requests will be <br />considered if you would otherwise lose accumulated vacation, have taken regular vacation time, <br />and have good reasons for requesting a payoff. <br />You may only request a management vacation payoff request once per fiscal year. The payoff <br />is limited to the maximum monetary equivalent of one fiscal year's management vacation <br />accrual,-and depends on the availability of funds. <br />Page 18 <br />
