Human Resource & Risk Services <br /> WORK • PLAN • 2004 <br /> RISK• SERVICES <br /> Employee• Nealth• Qc• Benefits <br /> I'j <br /> The Employee Health and Benefits Program is responsible for the management and administration of benefits to City employees, <br /> j from policy development and financial management to premium payment and employee communication. The City's award-winning <br /> Health and Fitness Program is an important part of the Employee Health and Benefits Program and also provides occupational <br /> health services which are outlined in the Workers' Compensation section. <br /> I <br /> i <br /> • Administration of health, life, and long-term disability insurance programs, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), deferred <br /> compensation, PERS, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and City physician services. <br /> • Management of the .City's self-insured health plan. <br /> ~ Administration of the Health and Fitness program, including Health Risk Appraisals (HRA), health and wellness training, <br /> individualized exercise programs, ergonomic consultations, rehabilitation of injured workers, and pre-employment and job- <br /> related fitness testing. <br /> • Provide consultation and advice to supervisors and employees regarding complex benefits issues such as long-term <br /> disability. <br /> • Conduct employee and supervisory training on benefits-related topics. <br /> • Policy and benefits development through the Benefits Study Group and the collective bargaining process. <br /> • Administration of vacation and leave policies, including the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). <br /> <br /> ~ Maintain knowledge of State and Federal laws, administrative rules, and legal cases related to employee benefits to <br /> ensure City policies, procedures, and practices are in compliance.
