"It's Everyone's Responsibility" <br /> Policy Statement - WE ALL DESERVE A RESPECTFUL PLACE TO WORK <br /> The City of Eugene is committed to having a positive and professional work place and will take all <br /> necessary steps to ensure that the work environment remains productive for all who work here. It is <br /> ~ the responsibility of every employee and agent of the City, (volunteers, contractors, boards, <br /> j and commission members) to treat each other with courtesy, consideration, and respect. <br /> I <br /> j The City of Eugene Does Not Tolerate: <br /> E 1. Any form of harassment, or unprofessional, discourteous behavior. <br /> <br /> ~I <br /> NO offensive jokes or comments <br /> NO offensive practical jokes <br /> NO derogatory or vulgar language <br /> NO offensive cartoons <br /> NO offensive physical touching <br /> NO innuendoes or workplace objects such as sexually-oriented calendars, posters, or <br /> pictures <br /> 2. Demeaning statements, threats or intimidation. <br /> 3. Unprofessional and discourteous actions. <br /> r <br /> 4. Any behavior that creates or fosters an unwelcome or abusive work environment. <br /> Complaint Procedures - WE NEED TO KNOW...IN ORDER TO HELP <br /> Any employee who witnesses or believes that he/she is, or that they may be subjected to <br /> objectionable conduct must report immediately to a supervisor or manager in his/her department or <br /> a Human Resource and Risk Services supervisor or management employee. (Department staff <br /> should consult with Human Resources if they receive a complaint.) Do not allow an inappropriate <br /> situation to continue by not reporting it, regardless of who is creating that situation. No <br /> employee in this organization is exempt from this policy. In response to every complaint, the <br /> City will undertake a prompt investigation, and will take corrective and preventative actions where <br /> necessary. An employee who brings such a complaint to the attention of the City in good faith will <br /> not be adversely affected as a result of reporting the harassment or discrimination. <br /> Retaliation - WE WON'T TOLERATE IT <br /> Any intimidation, coercion, discrimination or retaliation against an individual who files a complaint or <br /> who testifies, assists or participates in any manner in an investigation will not be tolerated. <br /> Employees will report retaliation immediately, using any of the avenues for making a complaint <br /> described above. All complaints will be investigated according to the investigation procedure <br /> described above. Corrective action, including discipline or termination, will be taken where <br /> appropriate. <br /> ~I <br /> <br />
