EEO cat.: 1 CITY OF EUGENE <br /> FLSA-exempt Revised 9/03 <br /> Managerial Exempt #9017 <br /> Range 36 <br /> i <br /> CITY ENGINEER <br /> DEFINITION <br /> i <br /> Plans, directs, and manages the activities of the Engineering Division in the Public Works <br /> Department, including local and regional infrastructure planning and policy development; ensures <br /> compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements; oversees the collection of service <br /> development and similar charges; provides guidance to professional and technical staff involved <br /> in engineering, surveying, appraisal/acquisition, project management, and GIS activities; and <br /> provides highly responsible and complex staff support to the Executive. Director -Public Works. <br /> i <br /> SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> i <br /> Receives administrative direction from the Executive Director -Public Works. <br /> Exercises direct supervision over assigned professional, technical and clerical staff. <br /> i <br /> EXAMPLES OF DUTIES -Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> Oversees and coordinates the implementation of capital improvement projects including <br /> engineering design, field survey and construction management for the public infrastructure needs <br /> of the community. <br /> Directs and participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and <br /> priorities related to the Engineering Division. <br /> <br /> a Develops and reviews infrastructure master plans, policy and project proposals; presents complex <br /> reports and controversial issues to the City Council and other commissions, committees and <br /> j boards. <br /> Directs, oversees and participates in the development of the Division work plan; assigns work <br /> activities, projects and programs; monitors work flow; reviews and evaluates work products, <br /> methods and procedures. <br /> Provides complex administrative support to the Executive Director -Public Works; assists with <br /> special projects as assigned; prepares complex and sensitive reports for State and Federal <br /> regulatory agencies. <br /> Prepares and implements long range planning for public works systems and improvements, <br /> s including stormwater, wastewater and transportation systems. <br /> 1 <br /> <br />
