divisions. Also, the employee within this position occasionally works with staff <br /> from all of the other divisions of Public Works. Examples of past activities include <br /> such things as doing accident investigation at the WWTP and assisting with safety <br /> related training forstaffat the Airport, Transportation, and the Engineering divisions. <br /> Pertorms a wide variety of complex safety related duties; coordinates development and <br /> documentation of safety policy and procedures; insures staff compliance with local, state <br /> and federal safety regulations (i.e. OSHA rules, confined space entry, hazardous material <br /> storage/disposal); provides coordina#ion with HRRS for city <br /> wide safety programs such as <br /> the JLMRC Safety Sub .Committee, Defensive Driver Training, and ~ workers <br /> compensation and lost time accident investigation. Administers departmental Commercial <br /> <br /> j Driver's License (CDL) program; Conducts and chairs PMW/POS Safety Committee <br /> Meetings; Transports employees for testing if there is .suspicion of being under the <br /> influence of.drugs or alcohol; Conducts or coordinates development and documentation <br /> of employee safety training programs; Conducts on-the job accident investigation, analyzes <br /> data to determine cause and makes prevention recommendations to supervisor or <br /> manager. Recommends corrective action(s) which may include discipline. Coordinates <br /> and/or conducts the monthly divisional safety meetings; Pertorms in-house scheduled <br /> and unscheduled workplace safety inspections; Coordinates with OSHA in their <br /> inspections. Assists with OSHA investigation appeals by coordinating and conducting <br /> initial accident investigation. <br /> In addition to ~ conducting all phases of safety related tasks associated with the <br /> safety related duties of the position, employee must have the professional <br /> knowledge and ability to deal independently with a wide variety of other complex <br /> and sensitive issues; employee must frequently function as a project or program <br /> manager of a wide variety of special work assignments which may include crew <br /> supervision and that may be only peripherally safety related. Because of <br /> organizational needs, and budgetary restrictions preventing the increasing of staff, <br /> this position now functions at a muc . <br /> h hi her ex <br /> ectation e <br /> g 1 vel than whe <br /> P n the <br /> position was last reviewed. <br /> 2. Duties: <br /> Describe the major duties you perform and the approximate percentage of time <br /> spent performing these duties; your total percentage should equal 100%. Duty <br /> statements should be specific and as detailed as necessary to explain them. <br /> (Examples: 10% Schedule appointments. and meetings, reserve conference rooms and vehicles, <br /> and make travel arrangements as instructed. 15% Pruning, raking, fertilizing and weeding). <br /> 35% Develops, coordinates, oversees and implements divisional and job specific <br /> safety policies anal procedures in .accordance with local, state and federal <br /> regulations. Reviews and interprets OR-OSHA legislation, analyzed impact, anal <br /> provides input for proposed new lainrs or changes to existing laws. Coordinates <br /> and updates the divisional safety manual. Coordinates and conducts the <br /> divisional safety recognition and awards program for both PWM and POS. <br /> Pertorms research and analyzes technical informatioh to ensure adequacy of <br /> Position Questionnaire Form 2 ~ HRRS/Jan 99 <br /> <br />
