The budget estimate Linda put together already shows an amount
higher than what's in the budget. But, I think we should just leave it that way for now -
let me know if that causes any problems for you. If it turns out we need the full amount
(reflected by the estimate) then we'll make sure to talk to Peggy.
Therese
-----Original Message-----
From: WEIXELMAN Susan E
Sent: Wednesday, May 24, 2000 9:12 AM
To: WALCH Therese
Cc: HARRIS Linda L; HAMLIN Peggy D
Subject: RE: Budget for Upper Amazon
Therese, thanks for the information on this project ---given the relatively small dollar
amount of the estimated additional amount needed, a supplemental budget will not be
necessary.
However, when (if) you need additional funding ($10,000 or whatever the amount ends
up being) send a revised project estimate to Peggy and she will get the additional
appropriation authority for the project. The best time to do this would be when you are
fairly sure you will need the additional funds, but not waiting until the end of the project.
Hope this helps!
Susan
-----Original Message-----
From: WALCH Therese
Sent: Tuesday, May 23, 2000 5:26 PM
To: WEIXELMAN Susan E
Cc: HARRIS Linda L; HAMLIN Peggy D
Subject: RE: Budget for Upper Amazon
Susan,
We are getting going on planning/very preliminary design of a project which is
currently in the 00 budget (i.e. we have the project authorization form en route for
signatures, consultants on board to help out with the project, etc.). The project
number is #905066. The estimate that Linda did recently shows that we MAY need
an additional $10,000 or so, beyond the $29,000 that was budgeted. Since the
estimate is somewhat conservative, is it OK if we just stick with the $29k that's been
allocated, monitor how it goes, and then reconcile when the project is completed
IF we come up short (i.e. move money into this project from another project that has
been under-expended)? I think that's a better approach than putting more money for
this project in a supplemental budget, all things considered.
Please let us know what you think.
Thanks,
Therese
