Executive Managers Review Team
BUDGET REVIEW -AGENDA ITEM
~ Date: November 1, 2004
Department: Public Works Department Contact: Becky Koble
Department Head Signature:
i
1. Item Title (Action Requested):
i
Request for spending authority for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant, the
funding for which has become available one fiscal year earlier than was anticipated.
I
j 2. Description of Item:
The Airport recently received notification that an Airport Improvement Program (AIP)
Discretionary Grant had been awarded in the amount of $1.8 million from the FAA.
Airport management had anticipated that this award would not be available until FY06, as
part of the funding for the Parallel Runway Project. The earlier availability of this funding
is advantageous to the project, as it will allow an accelerated project completion for the
runway, as well as allow project managers to initiate other planned improvements related

I to the runway project, such as the realignment of Airport Road. The spending authority
request includes the 5% local match, for a total appropriation request of $1,890,000.
Advance notice of this pending request and an invitation for councilor questions was
provided to Council on October 21, 2004 (see attached copy of that memo).
BJE#46449
3.
