Description of Item: <br /> Additional appropriation authority is needed to fund the costs associated with the B Gate <br /> Covered Walkways project. The scope of the B Gate Covered Walkway project began <br /> two years ago with the plan to use a simple covered walkway structure that would then <br /> incorporate a manufactured fabric covered walkway, called acommute-a-walk, to connect <br /> between the fixed structure walkway and the parked aircraft. Since then the Airport, <br /> Horizon Air (the primary airline user), and the consultant have recommended a more <br /> sophisticated design that will provide an adjustable ramp and a ballooning cover that will <br /> work much like a standard jet bridge. This will allow total protection from the weather <br /> for passengers using the ground boarding gate for Horizon Air's operations. Some other <br /> items like; requirements for the walkway to have fire protection and wheelchair lifts have <br /> resulted in higher costs for the project. <br /> 3.
