Laboratory <br />testing, as outlined. below, will also be conducted on bulk samples of subgrade soils retrieved from <br />explorations ' for soil classification, preliminary evaluation .of the feasibility in -pla recycling and t o <br />develop . design parameters= for subgrade' compaction: = <br />■ Atterberg Limits determinations (up t o 4 soil - sam <br />■ Standard Proctor moisture. density relationship (compaction curve), of subgrade.. soil (2 sanapl <br />-curves)- <br />Laboratory resilient modulus of subgrade - -soil samples compacted to 95% of standard Proctor <br />maximum density: (2 sample tests <br />- .Pavement Analysis & .Report <br />Truck -and bus traffic data provided by the City will - be analyzed to develop estimates of the cumulative <br />Equivalent 18;000 pound Single Axle Load (ESAL) repetitions- - during the design - period: ' - <br />designs wi11 be developed for reconstruction with " .conventional" AC on AB s full -depth AC- PCC <br />pavement sections: Preliminary designs for . inwptace recycling :utilizing timer partland cement v11 be <br />prepared for prelimuinary evaluation of the cost-effectiveness of in -place recycling. The pavement designs <br />will be developed using the' procedures of the 1993 AASHTO Gui for Design'' of Pavem - ent :,Structures <br />with the 1998 supplement for rigid. pavement design and the designs will be checked against the : Asphalt <br />Institute's design method for AC pavement and the APCA - design method for PCC- pavement. <br />Our design recommendations Will be summarised in a design report together with documentation of the.. <br />field investigation, laboratory . testing - and design . analysis. ' ' Recommendations will be provided for <br />modifications that may be 'n'' eeded to the construction materials and technique specifications. of the Oregon <br />Standard Specifications for Construction as amended by the City of Eugene; Three copies of the report <br />will 'b submitted. _ <br />Project Schedul <br />We can begin work on September 22 and plan to conduct the FWI] testing on September 29 or September <br />30 followed by pavement boring explorations during the week of October 6. We can provide . our . <br />pavement, design recommendations by October 31 and deliver our final design report by November. 170 <br />Project Fee <br />We propose- to accomplish the. above described work scope on a time and expenses basis in accordance <br />with the attached rate schedule. Our estimated fee for this work. is $24,700- as itemized below; which we <br />agree not exceed without your prior authorization.. This fee estimate covers our services through delivery <br />of -the design report but does not include post report services such. as- final design for in -place recycling, <br />review of . construction drawings and specifications; assistance during bidding, review of contractor <br />submittals or .engineering assistance during construction. We would be pleased to provide .such services <br />on. an as requested basis in accordance with the attached.rate schedule: <br />
