The deliverables to be funded by this request are needed for this project to communicate <br /> ~ with the public, governmental funding agencies, private foundations, and private donors, such as <br /> the following: <br /> <br /> ~ • Architectural model and other similaz visual rendition(s) or rendering(s) that will be used in <br /> <br /> ~ fund raising meetings and public forums to inform the public about the project and proposed <br /> <br /> ~ facility. Facility cost estimates; <br /> <br /> ~ • Statistics and demographics on user groups (for example, how will the building function{or <br /> <br /> ~ students?); <br /> <br /> ® • An operation, maintenance, and staffing plan that will fit with the needs and perceived future <br /> for environmental education within the community; <br /> <br /> ® • Operation and maintenance cost estimates and financing plan; <br /> <br /> 1 • Scope out potential funding sources; and <br /> <br /> ® • Prepazation of multi-media materials for presentations at public meetings and major fund <br /> <br /> ~ raising events. <br /> <br /> ® Environmental Education Center Progress Report <br /> <br /> ® In Januazy 1999 abroad-based education committee was formed and began to meet. Since its <br /> <br /> ~ formation the Committee has developed a program and goals. It has accomplished a great deal <br /> <br /> ~ during the past 14 months in planning for both an interim and permanent outdoor education <br /> <br /> ~ program and facilities azound the West Eugene wetlands in the Amazon Creek watershed. The <br /> idea for such a program is based on the West Eugene Wetlands Plan (1992). The successful <br /> <br /> ~ multiple objective wetland protection program is being carried out by a formal partnership <br /> consisting of the City of Eugene (City), The Nature Conservancy ('TNC), the U.S. Bureau of <br /> Land Management (BLM), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), and the Oregon Youth <br /> <br /> ~ Conservation Corps (OYCC). <br /> <br /> ~ Education Committee Mission Statement: <br /> Develop an environmental education center and program with strong <br /> voluntary support. Plan the program with an i~tteractive approach and build <br /> strong community support.
