<br /> Summary of Accomplishments, January 1999 -July 2000 <br /> Conducted Rachel Carson Environmental School outdoor field activities. <br /> • Made BLM building modifications (access to meeting room and bathrooms, and improved security and storage <br /> capabilities). <br /> • Signed agreements between BLM and the Eugene School District and the Lane County Audubon Society for <br /> use of BLM facilities and lands for educational purposes. <br /> • Began Lane County Audubon Socie_ ty training program for volunteer wetland trip leaders and conducted a <br /> teacher wetland in-service training in fall 19.99. <br /> • Reviewed site-selection criteria and conducted site analysis for a permanent environmental education facility. <br /> Narrowed alternatives to the top two sites. <br /> • Hired a BLM wetland manager to coordinate the environmental education program. <br /> • Began drafting a strategic plan for the education center and program. <br /> • Formed an environmental education non-profit organization, the Willamette Resources and Educational <br /> Network ('NREN). <br /> • Began working with WBGS, Architect and Rick Satre, Landscape Architect, to refine building and site needs <br /> and design. <br /> August 2000 <br /> <br />
