It has accom- <br /> plished agreat deal during the past two :years in plannir?g for both an interim t <br /> and permanent outdoor education program and facilities around the west t ' <br /> Eugene wetlands in-the Amazon Creek watershed. The idea for such a program is " <br /> based on the West Eugene Wetlands Plan (1992). This successful, multiple objet- + ` " <br /> tive, wetland protection program is being carried out by a formal partnership consisting <br /> of the City of Eugene, The Nature Conservancy, the.U.S. Bureau of Land Management, The U.S. Army; Corps of <br /> Engineers, and the'OregonYouth Conservation Corps: "The Committee's-focus is on environmental education, <br /> research, knd stewardship in the southern Willamette Valley. It encompasses the west Eugene wetlands and adjacent uplands as <br /> an outdoor study area, with connecting trails, interpretive stations and signs.
