The work parties will be held on Monday, <br /> January 17, fr m 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Sladden Park), with a lunch break at <br /> noon. At the ompletion of each project, the AmeriCorps members will hold a brief "thank-you" party <br /> including a sh rt presentation on the meaning of Martin Luther King Day. The public is invited to <br /> participate in ny of the park projects. <br /> In a p rtnership initiated by City Councilor Scott Meisner, volunteers with AmeriCorps and the <br /> City's Neighb rWoods program will plant trees in Sladden Park at the north end of Adams Street in the <br /> Whiteaker nei hborhood. The seven trees to be planted include native dogwood, cedar, and hemlock. <br /> Anot er Martin Luther King Day volunteer project will be focused on cleaning up State Street <br /> Park, located ff Dakota Street north of Barger Avenue. AmeriCorps members will be joined by <br /> employees fr Industrial Adhesives, park neighbors, park maintenance staff, and staff from the City's <br /> Volunteers in jParks program to plant trees, beautify shrub beds, remove graffiti, and cut blackberries <br /> and other invajsive plant species.
