.~F'"
~I
News Release -Work on Sixth and Seventh Avenues
August 1, 2000
Page 2
Work hours on the crosswalk project are 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. On the first day of the
crosswalk work, August 13, Sixth and Seventh each will have only one travel lane available.
After August 13, there will be at least two travel lanes available on each street until the project is
finished. Pedestrian crossings at Willamette on Sixth and Seventh will be closed. The lane
restrictions and crosswalk closures will continue around the clock until the work is complete.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid construction delays. Now that
the Eugene Water & Electric Board has completed the first leg of its water main extension, Fifth
Avenue is available as an alternate route. Eighth Avenue and 10th Avenue also can be used as
alternate routes through the downtown area.
For up-to-date information on area road construction, call the City of Eugene traffic relief
hotline at 984-8484, or on the Internet at www.ci.eugene.or.us/pw/traffic.
~r ~I
II
