w ~
News Release Pavin Work to Be in on Three Eu ene Streets
g g g
August 3, 2000
Page 2
The paving work is part of an annual program designed to preserve the City's roadway
network. The program uses a pavement management system to identify roads that would benefit
the most from preventive maintenance. Because it is much less expensive to rehabilitate
(overlay) roadways than to reconstruct them, the City strives to preserve as much of the City's
roadway investment as possible with the limited amount of funds available. The overlay
program is funded by the Road Fund, which comes primarily from state gas taxes.
For up-to-date information about local road construction, call the City of Eugene traffic
relief hotline at 984-8484, or on the Internet at www.ci.eugene.or.us/pw/traffic.

~rr~
