The first project, anticipated to <br /> begin in earl August, includes the area bounded by Hilyard Street, Capital Drive, East 20th <br /> Avenue and ast 27th Avenue. Insituform Technologies, Inc., of Salem, bid $1.27 million to <br /> repair more ~han four miles of underground wastewater main lines and related service <br /> connections pnd manholes. <br /> A se and project is scheduled to go to bid in mid-July and will cover four areas: West <br /> Amazon Dri a to Ferry Street from East 38th Avenue to Fox Hollow Road; Willamette Street to <br /> Ferry Street ~rom East 30th to East 31st avenues; Olive to Pearl streets from Fifth to Sixth <br /> avenues (all y areas only); and a small easement area east of Storey Boulevard and north of <br /> Courtney PI ce. The total project includes repairs to about two miles of wastewater main lines <br /> and related Service connections and manholes. Work on that project is anticipated to begin in <br /> early September. <br /> The astewater repair projects use a technique in which flexible liners are inserted into <br /> existing and rground main line pipes to avoid digging up the street as much as possible. <br /> However, trajditional "dig and replace" methods are used to reconnect house connections and <br /> portions of tl~e service lines with public rights-of-way, so there will be some construction and <br /> traffic impac s in the work zones.
