Peter DeFazio (D-Springfield) today announced that he was able to <br /> secure $1.25 m Ilion for installation of an instrument landing system at the Eugene Airport and $2 <br /> <br /> million for con truction of an air traffic control tower at North Bend Airport. The funding was included <br /> at DeFazio's re uest, in the Transportation, Treasury and Independent Agencies Appropriations Act for <br /> fiscal year 200 and was approved yesterday by the House Appropriations Committee. <br /> "Improvin our infrastructure is key to stimulating the economy, attracting new business and <br /> creating new j s," DeFazio said. "Better air service means more opportunities for local businesses and <br /> our communi <br /> The legisl tion included $1.25 million for the installation of equipment needed for a new runway at <br /> the Eugene Ai ort. The funding will be used to install an instrument landing system with an approach <br /> lighting syste ,precision approach path indicators and runway end identifier lights. These <br /> improvements ill allow the airport to attract and accommodate increased air service, as well as ensure <br /> safe, reliable a r service at the airport.
