In <br /> tt~e plans for Aw ey Paflk, located at River Road and Spring Creek Drive, are two new play areas, one <br /> designed for chil ren alas 2-5 and the other designed for children ages 5-12; accessible parking and <br /> vkalkways; a oov red sel~sonal restroom; and new picnic tables and park seating. One of the innovative <br /> f atures of the i proved. parking lot is stormwater drainage through a bio-filtration swale, where runoff <br /> t vels through a vegetated area to filter impurities such as heavy metals, oils and other foreign substances <br /> fated to auto lies. 7ihe northern portion of the park consists of a wooded natural area with Spring <br /> reek winding th ough ik. This area will remain natural habitat, and, if funds are available after construction, <br /> new pedestria footbridge will be constructed across the creek, as welt as a path that travels through the <br /> tea to the resid ntial neighborhood north of the park. In the first week of construction, the ofd parking lot <br /> as been remov d and irecanfigured, the site has been cleared and graded, the new play areas and paths <br /> ave been exca ated, and the new concrete paths have been formed. Local contractor Aspen Springs <br /> nticipates com feting the job by the end of October. <br /> At Arro ead Phrk, located at 9220 Irvington Drive, the site is being prepared for new play areas <br /> nd a field; picni tables., benches and a shelter; basketball courts; paths and nature trails; and many new <br /> tees to buffer t e naturaal area along Flat Creek.
