This "Trees for <br /> Conc ete" project in honor of Arbor Day is organized by the Cify of Eugene NeighborWoods <br /> ~ prog m and the Eugene Tree Foundation, in an effort to create a more livable and green <br /> dow town by replacing concrete with trees and flowers along sidewalks. In addition, Eugene <br /> Stre m Team is continuing its portnership with Eugene Tree Foundation at this event by <br /> prov ding over 100 native plants and shrubs from its volunteer-run native plant nursery. <br /> I <br /> ~ Co munity volunteers signed up to help with the planting include children and parents from <br /> the MCA's After School Care Program. <br /> ~ Mayor Piercy will kick-off the celebration by accepting Eugene's 27'~ consecutive Tree <br /> Ci USA award. Tree City USA, a program of the Nationol Arbor Day Foundation and <br /> sp nsored by the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODFj, recognizes cities that have <br /> de eloped programs that plant and care for trees.
