Both <br /> regional (M C) and local (City) wastewater fees are to be increased beginning on bills issued on or <br /> after July 1, 20 4. Regional wastewater user fees will increase by 24%, to fund on-going operations and <br /> maintenance along with needed improvements to regional wastewater facilities. Local wastewater user <br /> fees will increase by 12% to continue funding of operations, maintenance and rehabilitation of the <br /> Eugene wastev~ater collection system. This is the first increase in local wastewater rates since 1993. <br /> The combined ffect of the wastewater fee increases for a typical residential customer amounts to an <br /> increase of $2.~5 per month, from a current total of $13.84 to a proposed total of $16.59 per month. Of <br /> this typical inc~±ease, $2.18 is related to the regional portion while $0.57 is from the local portion of the <br /> fee. Other used categories will see similar effects in terms of the percentage increase, with dollar <br /> amounts varying depending on volume and strength of wastewater discharge. <br /> Council was previously notified of the intended increases on May 27, 2004. All wastewater customers <br /> are being notif d of the increases through a rate notification brochure inserted into EWEB bills, <br /> advertisements in the Register Guard, and via the City's web site. Several articles related to the <br /> <br /> ' proposed incre ses were included in the Register Guard.
