Both <br /> gi©nal (MWMC) and local (City) wastewater fees are to be increased beginning on bills issued on or <br /> fte~ July 1, 2004. Regional wastewater user fees will increase by 6%, to fund on-going operations and <br /> aintenance along with needed improvements to regional wastewater facilities. Local wastewater user <br /> ees will increase by 12% to continue funding of operations, maintenance and rehabilitation of the <br /> Eugene wastewater collection system. This is the second increase in local wastewater rates since 1993. <br /> he combined effect of the proposed wastewater fee increases for a typical residential customer amounts <br /> o an increase of $1.33 per month, from a current total of $16.59 to a proposed total of $17.92 per <br /> ! onth. Of this typical increase, $0.69 is related to the regional portion while $0.64 is from the local <br /> ortion of the fee. Other user categories will see similar effects in terms of the percentage increase, with <br /> ~ollar amounts varying depending on volume and strength of wastewater discharge. <br /> ouncil was previously notified of the intended increases on May 1 Z, 2005. All wastewater customers <br /> ~ re being notified of the proposed increases through a rate notification brochure inserted into EWEB <br /> ills, advertisements in the Register Guard, and via the City's web site. A public hearing on the <br /> roposed increase was held on May 26, 2005.
