i <br /> July 3, 2007 <br /> CONTACT: Steve Gallup, West 18th Avenue Project Manager, 541-682-8460 <br /> Matt Rodrigues, East 18th Avenue Project Manager, 541-682-6036 <br /> From Public Information Section, 682-5523 or 954-2938 <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> 2-PAGE FA,X <br /> i <br /> Two Pavement Repair Projects Set to Start July 9 on 18"' Avenue <br /> Major paving repairs on two sections of 18th Avenue begin Monday, July 9. <br /> On UNest 18th Avenue between City View Street and Bailey Hill Road, Morse Bros., under a <br /> I $1.1 million'contract to the Eugene Public Works Department, will resurface the roadway, rebuild <br /> the intersection of 18th Avenue at Bailey Hill, and repave Bailey Hill Road from 11th to 18th avenues. <br /> While the intersection is being rebuilt, probably starting in late July, portions of the roadway will be <br /> <br /> ~ closed to through traffic for extended periods while the new concrete surface cures. <br /> <br /> II The ;rest of the work on West 18th Avenue and Bailey Hill will include making subsurface <br /> ' spot repairs, grinding off the top layer of deteriorated asphalt, and constructing a new asphalt <br /> surface from curb to curb. Motorists are likely to encounter lane detours and delays, but at least <br /> one lane of traffic will be open at all times except in the intersection of 18th and Bailey Hill while that <br /> intersection'is being rebuilt. The West 18th Avenue and Bailey Hill Road repaving is scheduled to <br /> be completed by late August. <br /> On East 18th Avenue between Agate and Alder Streets, Eugene Sand & Gravel, under a <br /> $1.1 million contract to Eugene Public Works, will be repaving the street and constructing <br /> pedestrian and bicycle improvements.
