Our goal, during any interaction with <br /> the media, is to ensure they are referred to the person most appropriate to respond to the questions being <br /> asked and provide that information in a timely and accurate manner. We strive to represent the Eugene <br /> Airport in-:a manner that reflects positively on the airport and the City of Eugene, and communicate <br /> effectively with airport users regarding relevant information on airport affairs. <br /> OFFICIAL SPOKESPERSON <br /> The Airport Manager or his designee, depending on media subject matter, shall be the official <br /> spokesperson of the Eugene Airport when interacting with the media. If Airport staff is not available, the <br /> Public Affairs Manager may assume the role of the division spokesperson if he or she is properly briefed <br /> on the specific topic. <br /> Media questions dealing with issues that are not Airport Division-specific shall be referred to the Public <br /> Affairs Manager in the PW Administration Division. <br /> EMERGENCY PUBLIC INFORMATION -USE OF THE PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER (PIO) <br /> During an emergency event, the City of Eugene will utilize the Incident Command System (ICS) to <br /> respond. Public information, during an emergency event, will be coordinated by the Public-Information <br /> Officer (PIO), who is designated by the Incident Commander at the time of the emergency event. <br /> All news releases and council newsletter articles shall be approved and disseminated by the PIO. <br /> <br /> The PIO shall endeavor to determine the appropriate staff and facilitate their contact with the media in <br /> <br /> response to any specific media request. If the appropriate staff is not available the PIO may assume the <br /> <br /> role of the division spokesperson if they feel properly briefed on the specific topic. <br /> Page I of 1 <br /> <br />
