We
would like to document some of the City's sustainability performance, assess what relevant data and
information are already available, and get a preliminary understanding of what projects the City might
consider in the future.
We have contracted with Good Company, a local research and consulting firm with expertise in these
areas, to gather the information and help us summarize the many excellent things happening at the
City. There are three goals. First, we would like abig-picture view of what data we are already
collectin and where there might be opportunities to improve our self-knowledge in key areas.
9
« our
adth of
t both the bre
Second, we will document a few notable success stories that represen
efforts and our opportunities for improvement; this information will be used to create a pamphlet for
distribution to the public via the City Council. Last, we expect this information to give us a clearer
picture ofsustainability-oriented projects to prioritize in the near future. (A copy of the project
proposal is attached)
Someone from Good Company will contact you in the next week to get this process underway. I
understand that we're approaching the holiday season when many of us are not as accessible, but
this process will continue into January. Good Company aims to complete the interviews by January
25; please help them meet this deadline, if at all possible.
I am excited to see the results of this project. The City has so many great things going on -
documenting our strengths and successes, as well as our opportunities for improvement, will be
inspiring and important for us and for the public.
Jim
12/16/03
