B. Employees interested in becoming a mentor will complete a mentor application. The application will be <br /> utilized in the Mentor selection process to ensure compatibility between the Mentor and the Mentoree. <br /> Supervisors must sign off on Mentor applications. <br /> C. After approval of the mentor by the Coordinator, the mentor and mentoree's supervisors will determir <br /> mentor/mentoree matches. <br /> D. Where possible, it is preferable to have the mentor be from a different workgroup than the new hire, but <br /> from similar work classifications when possible. <br /> V. MENTORSHIP PACKETS <br /> A. Mentorship packets will be developed by Coordinator, Division Director and Mentor Committee. <br /> B. Packets will include at least the following information: <br /> ? A map of the Wastewater Division including physical location of workgroups, <br /> ? Organizational chart <br /> ? Short description of responsibilities/duties of workgroups, name of supervisor and employees <br /> provided by Supervisor for each workgroup <br /> ? .City acronym list <br /> ? (All above information may be provided on the WWD Intranet) <br /> ? Checklist of other items to cover during mentorship program including items listed here. <br /> VI. SUPERVISOR ROLE <br /> A. Promote the mentor program and encourage staff availability for the mentorship program and allow staff <br /> time to participate in meetings with mentors/apprentices. <br /> B. Insure new employees participate and complete in mentorship program. <br /> C. Sign off on mentor approvals from their work group. <br /> D. Coordinate with Division Manager and Division Mentorship Coordinator in compiling mentorship <br /> packets. <br /> E. Work with Division Manager, Coordinator, and mentor/mentoree's supervisor in determining <br /> mentor/mentoree match. . <br /> F. Meet with Division Manager and Coordinator at least once/year to review and update mentorship <br /> program where appropriate. <br /> G. Complete Mentorship program survey at the end of each mentorship program -submit to Coordinator. <br /> <br /> VII. MENTOR ROLE <br /> A. The mentor will meet with new employee at least once a week for the first six weeks: 'Thereafter, <br /> meetings will be on an as-needed basis but at least once a month, for a minimum of six months. <br /> Responsibilities will include the following: <br /> ? Provide mentoree a general overview of the Division and its responsibilities, and an initial <br /> greeting and get-to-know-you opportunity <br /> ? Review informational packet, and insure items on check-off list are covered. <br /> ? Re-introduce staff as necessary. <br /> ? Assist mentoree in becoming familiar with community and its resources. <br /> ? Help mentoree to better understand City benefits and resources. <br /> ? Provide a tour of the wastewater treatment plant and other City offices (other locations where <br /> appropriate for apprentice i.e. gas stations available for staff caxs, where to get ID, etc:), if the <br /> supervisor has not already done so, <br /> ? Ensure that information shared remains confidential <br /> <br />
