WASTEWATER MENTORSHIP PROGRAM <br /> February 23, 2004 <br /> The Mentorship Program's purpose is to provide new employees with assistance and support in learning about <br /> the City's culture and work environment. <br /> I. MENTORSHIP PROGRAM GOALS <br /> A. Provide information, guidance, and support to new employees <br /> B. Provide information helpful to performing job-related duties <br /> C. To offer a confidential forum for new employees to discuss any problem or concerns that might develop <br /> during their work <br /> D. Promote personal job fulfillment <br /> E. To support a comfortable and respectful work environment which promotes retention <br /> IL ' MENTORSHIP COMMITTEE <br /> A. The mentorship committee is the Division Director ,the Division's Mentorship Coordinator and other <br /> staff as identified. <br /> B. The Coordinator will be determined by the Division Director and will serve in the role not more than 3 <br /> years unless mutually agreed upon by both the Coordinator and Director to extend this time. <br /> C. The Committee will canvass Division staff for volunteers to participate as mentors. General <br /> qualification and selection criteria will be defined by the Committee, which will meet with each mentor <br /> candidate and make final selections for participants in the program <br /> D. The Committee will meet at least once a year to review the Division's mentorship program using <br /> feedback from surveys of the mentors and mentorees, and update the program as needed. The Division <br /> Manager will also review the survey results for changes that maybe necessary in the workgroups' <br /> activities, responsibilities and duties. and meet with Supervisors where appropriate. <br /> E. The Mentorship Coordinator will follow-up with the supervisors of new employees to ensure that the <br /> new employees participate in mentorship program. <br /> III. DIVISION MENTORSHIP COORDINATOR <br /> A. The Coordinator will work with the Division Manager and the Supervisor of a new employee to compile <br /> a mentorship packet. The Coordinator will provide packets and guidance for their use to mentors. <br /> B. Sends out and collects mentorship program surveys from supervisors, mentors and mentorees at the end <br /> of each mentorship. <br /> C. Review mentorship surveys. Update program where appropriate in coordination with the Mentor <br /> Committee and Division Manager <br /> D. Create a meeting opportunity including past mentors, new potential mentors and Division Manager <br /> E. Creates and updates new list of mentors every 3 years. <br /> F. Maintain survey forms and database of mentor program information. <br /> G. Serves as the liaison to other mentor programs within the Public Works Department. <br /> <br /> IV. MENTORSHIP APPLICATION AND SELECTION <br /> A. An informational meeting will be held at least once a year (or more often as need) to recruit mentors, <br /> provide information about the mentorship program and provide training to those wishing to become a <br /> mentor. <br /> <br />
