Alternatives
This chapter describes the two alternatives for this project, as well as an alternative that was
identified but eliminated from detailed study. The chapter concludes with a comparative summary
of the environmental consequences of the two analyzed alternatives.
Alternative 1 (Proposed Action)
Under Alternative 1, the City of Eugene Parks and Open Space Division in partnership with The
Nature Conservancy, the McKenzie River Trust and Oregon State Parks and Recreation would
purchase fee title to Dillard Hollow in its entirety. The 38.4 acre parcel will be owned by the City of
Eugene and protected as open space under the stewardship of the Parks and Open Space
Division.
Altemative 2 (No Action)
Under this alternative, the City of Eugene and partners will not purchase Dillard Hollow. The
property will remain in private ownership leaving it vulnerable to development. It is anticipated that
the property will be subdivided-into 77-115 home sites with developed road and utility
infrastructure.
