Project Manager Tom Larsen said Monday that the bridge lanes and two
southbound vi duct lanes to Sixth Avenue will open Wednesday, weather permitting.
Earlier lans to open the lanes on Tuesday were postponed so the final layer of asphalt
just north oft bridge can be applied when the surface is dry. Traffic on the bridge has been
~ limited to one ane in each direction since June 10 to allow the project contractor, Mowat
I
Construction f Kirkland, Wash., to pour new concrete surfacing on the 48-year-old bridge.
The rai will not delay plans to pour the final section of concrete on the viaduct this
week. Beginn ng Tuesday night and continuing until at least Thursday, nighttime northbound
traffic approa ing the bridge from the downtown area will be detoured around the viaduct and
onto the bridg at Fourth Avenue. Once the pour is completed, northbound travel will be limited
to one lane fo at least 10 more days so the concrete can cure properly.
Public Works • Administration • City of Eugene • 858 Pearl Street • Eugene, OR 97401

• Phone: (541) 687-5262 • FAX: (541) 683-6826 • www.ci.eugene.or.us
