Local residents are reminded that they are responsible
for .removing 1 aves and other debris in the streets in front of their homes or businesses.
Richar Zucker, manager of the City's leaf recycling program, estimated that Public
Works crews icked up more than 15,000 cubic yards, or about 2,150 dump truck loads, of
leaves during he 10-week collection program. That's a bit higher than average in terms of the
volume of lea es put out in the streets by Eugene residents. Zucker speculated that early leaf
drops and goo raking weather contributed to the higher volume.
Resid nts with leftover leaves or other yard debris can recycle them in home compost
piles, take the to local recyclers such as Lane Forest Products or Rexius Forest By-Products, or
contact their 1 cal solid waste haulers for information on the curbside yard debris pickup
program.

Pq~blic Works • Admi istration • City of Eugene • 858 Pearl • Eugene, OR 97401-2727 • Phone: (541) 682-5262 • FAX (541) 682-6826
