PAGE 2 -LIB ARY WORKSHOP <br /> I~cated, by floor, and how the departments might be arranged on each floor. <br /> Followin the architect's presentation of the two concepts, the public will break out into <br /> smaller groups to answer a preliminary list of questions such as: <br /> Which conce t option do you prefer and why? <br /> What do you islike about the options you don't prefer? <br /> *j What sugges ions do you have that would improve each option? <br /> ~I <br /> In prepa ing the conceptual designs, the architects must comply with the Transit <br /> ~riented Devel pment Overlay District (TOD) land use code that applies to the site for the new <br /> library. This co e requires that the total area of a building must be twice as large as the total <br /> site area. <br /> One oft a conceptual design scenarios that will be presented is based on a building <br /> ajrea of 90,000 quare feet. This scenario results in a maximum feasible first floor area of just <br /> I~ss than 40,00 out of a total site size of 54,000 square feet. This approach places public <br /> library services on three floors, with enough outdoor space to add amenities such as a public <br /> courtyard or pl za to offset the floor area requirements of the TOD. It would also <br /> accommodate pace for future library expansion, which could be city offices in the meantime. <br /> The sec nd conceptual design features the maximum use of the site for library <br /> f nctions. This ption places public library services on two floors. To meet the TOD land use <br /> c de, however, the design would require the addition of lease space or a larger library. <br /> The wor shop will open with a presentation by the architectural design team. In addition <br /> t¢ sharing the o conceptual designs, their presentation will also include an update on the <br /> c ndition of the existing site and future steps following the workshop. <br /> Persons nable to attend the workshop can visit the library lecture room to view the <br /> <br /> d splays and co plete a feedback form. The displays will also be available for viewing on the <br /> li rary's web sit at www.ci.eugene.or.us/library.
