Among the factors considered in the lower speed limit:
1 increased resid ntial development in the west Barger area, the fact that the speed limit on the rest
i
of Barger is 35 mph, and the opening of the new Meadow View Elementary School at Barger and
~ Legacy Street. School zones with 20 mph speed limits have been established at the pedestrian
crossing on B ger west of Ohio Street and at the school grounds.
I
j The fir t speed zone on Barger was set in 1964 at 40 mph from Highway 99 to the west
city limit, whi hat the time was just west of Ohio Street. In 1994, the speed limit on Barger east
~ of Terry Street was lowered to 35 mph. The City recently annexed Barger Drive to Greenhill
I
Road, and the ew speed zone west of Terry Street creates a uniform speed for all of Barger
'I
Drive.

Public Works • Admin stration • City of Eugene • 858 Pearl • Eugene, OR 97401-2727 • Phone: (541) 682-5262 • FAX (541) 682-6826
