<br /> i News Release Construction Gears Up on Barger <br /> May 29, 1998 <br /> Page 2 <br /> Preliminary work began in late April on the City's street and sewer projects. For the past month, <br /> H&J Construction of Eugene has been installing wastewater and stormwater lines in the area south of <br /> Barger and doing preliminary work at various intersections along Barger Drive as part of a $4 million <br /> improvement project. Wildish Construction also has begun building a new $3 million wastewater pump <br /> station just south of the new school. <br /> Beginning the week of June 1, crews will move onto Barger, and Barger will be closed to <br /> through traffic between Terry Street and Greenhill Road. Motorists may also encounter heavy truck <br /> <br /> I~ traffic and brief delays on Greenhill Road just south of Barger where a temporary construction access <br /> road has been built. Later this summer, traffic on Terry Street will also be restricted north of Barger <br /> while the contractor installs two wastewater force mains along the west side of Terry Street. <br /> Access in the overall construction zone will be maintained for local traffic, with periodic delays. <br /> Lane Transit District will continue to operate its bus service in the area, although some bus stops may be <br /> relocated, particularly on the south side of Barger Drive. Royal Avenue has been designated as an <br /> <br /> I <br /> alternate route during the construction on Barger Drive. Royal Avenue is not designated as a truck route, <br /> and through truck traffic on Royal is not permitted.
