Dozens of volunteers from a variety of groups will join City of Eugene Public Works <br /> ~taff at the neighborhood park, 27~' and Monroe, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 29, to fix up the <br /> i <br /> playground area and install new equipment. <br /> I <br /> Members and parents of Cub Scout Pack 202 will install drainage pipe while members of the <br /> },~riendly Area Neighbors group build a containment base and spread sand over the play area. The play <br /> structure will be assembled and installed by contractors who are participating in the community service <br /> ~roject through the Mid-Oregon Chapter of the Oregon Remodelers Association. City park maintenance <br /> staff will do the excavating, ditching, and post hole digging and deliver the play equipment and sand. <br /> Iii The neighborhood group has worked with the City for almost five years on plans to improve the <br /> ark play equipment. "We planted trees and sponsored raffles and had `Music in the Park,' all with a <br /> ~oal of improving our park and bringing the neighborhood together," said Natalie Whitson, one of the <br /> neighborhood group volunteers who is taking part in the park project. The group's fund-raising events <br /> rfaised $2,600 to help purchase the play equipment.
