Participants will learn how to convert their own lawns into <br /> attractive, low maintenance landscapes that minimize impact to the environment. <br /> is <br /> ~ Eco-lawn seed mixtures develop into thick, lush coverings which typically require less <br /> mowing and watering than normal lawns, rare fertilizer application and even less need for weed <br /> I <br /> at~d pesticide chemicals. These chemicals often runoff into the stormwater drainage system <br /> I <br /> i were they flow, untreated, into local waterways and can affect drinking water sources, fish and <br /> wildlife. <br /> The eco-lawn site will be near the existing compost demonstration site and will include <br /> <br /> I <br /> educational signage on the benefits of eco-lawns and maintenance tips. On-site demonstrations <br /> of both composting and eco-lawns will be part of the City's continuing efforts to encourage <br /> I <br /> ~ waste reduction and reduce pollution runoff. <br /> The event. is free and open to the public. Participants should wear heavy shoes and bring <br /> gloves.
