i ~ ~ i i ~ ~ <br /> September 2, 1997 <br /> I <br /> CONTACT: Teri Higgins, Project Manager, 682-5560 <br /> From Public nformation Section, 682-5523 <br /> FOR IMME IATE RELEASE <br /> NEXT P SE OF SEWER WORK WILL CLOSE PORTIONS OF PRAIRIE ROAD <br /> Portio s of Prairie Road in the Beltline Road area will be closed to through traffic at <br /> times during a next month as sewer construction work continues. <br /> Crew from Eugene Sand & Gravel, under contract to the City of Eugene, are installing <br /> almost a mile of sewer line in Prairie Road between Beltline and Kaiser Avenue. The first phase <br /> of constructio ,from Irving Road to Kaiser, has been completed, and work has shifted to the <br /> south end of rairie Road. <br /> Begi g Wednesday, September 3, and lasting about a week, Prairie Road will be <br /> closed to traf cat Beltline Road. Following that closure, the offramp from westbound Beltline <br /> to Prairie Roa will be closed. This closure is expected to remain in effect for several days, until <br /> excavation h proceeded north past the offramp. Motorists are advised to use Northwest <br /> Expressway an alternate route. <br /> Subse uent closures will affect traffic from Beltline onto Prairie Road. Updates on <br /> construction-r fated closures will be announced on the City's traffic relief hotline, 984-8484. <br /> Cons ction began in early August on the $1.1 million project to extend the public <br /> wastewater co lection system in the Prairie Road area.
