The slide area, which is approximately 400 feet east <br /> of the I-105/V ley River Bridge, came within seven feet of the South Bank Trail, the main <br /> bicycle-pedes 'an path on the south side of the river. <br /> Cons ction work includes excavating the erosion-prone slide area, fortifying the bank <br /> with large roc called "rip rap," and rebuilding the bank with the excavated material, which will <br /> be stored near y. Six trees have been identified for removal to complete the damage repair. Ail <br /> of the trees be' g removed have been damaged by the flooding and have already fallen or are in <br /> the process of alling into the river. <br /> Durin construction, the South Bank Trail will be closed in the work zone, and bicyclists <br /> and pedestrian will be detoured on a paved, temporary path around the project site. The project <br /> is scheduled t be completed by mid-November.
