r~ <br /> i <br /> News Release Speed Humps <br /> <br /> Vin., May 15, 1997 <br /> Page 2 <br /> The C ty's Public Works Transportation Division identified the three streets as the top <br /> ~ sites on a list f 126 neighborhood-requested locations for traffic "calming" structures. Through <br /> the Neighbor ood Transportation Program, the City works with local residents to identify <br /> projects and rioritize them based on need and available funding. Eight speed humps previously <br /> ~ were installe on Lincoln Street. The City also has installed a variety of other traffic calming <br /> structures, in luding raised crosswalks, chokers, chicanes, and diverters. <br /> Total ost of installing the 17 speed humps is approximately $22,000. Funding for the <br /> capital impro ement project will come from the City's road fund, which is required under the <br /> Oregon Con itution to be spent only for transportation purposes. <br /> The peed humps should take a day or two to install. During construction, traffic will be <br /> i <br /> detoured an onstreet parking will be temporarily removed in the locations where the speed <br /> humps are b ing installed. The speed humps will be marked with paint, and warning signs will <br /> be posted to lert motorists. <br /> l <br /> <br />
