//I I/ I`~~ <br /> Public Works <br /> Administration <br /> City of Eugene <br /> 858 Pearl Street <br /> APRIL 8, 1996 Eugene, OR 97401 <br /> (503) 687-5262 <br /> CONTACT: Gene Shutt, Maintenance Supervisor, 687-5220 <br /> From Public Information Section, 687-5523 <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> SENECA TO BE CLOSED FOR TWO DAYS FOR RAIL SPUR REMOVALS <br /> Seneca Street will be closed to through traffic between Roosevelt Boulevard and First <br /> Avenue to remove two railroad spurs on Wednesday, April 10, and Thursday, April 11, weather <br /> permitting. <br /> Seneca will be open before 8:15 a.m. and after 3:45 p.m. Whenever the street is closed, <br /> flaggers will be present at First and Seneca and Roosevelt and Seneca to direct traffic and <br /> <br /> 'provide access for residents and businesses within the closure area. Motorists are advised to use <br /> Bertelsen Road or other alternate routes to avoid the construction area. <br /> The two Southern Pacific spur lines are no longer used. Schnitzer Steel plans to salvage <br /> the rail and ties. The removal and resurfacing work will be done by Pass Creek Paving. The cost <br /> of the removal and paving work is being shared by Southern Pacific and the City of Eugene. <br /> <br />
