j September 18, 1996
' Public Works
CONTACT: Bob Terrel, Project Manager, 687-5560 Administration
City of Eugene
858 Pearl Street
From Public Information Section, 687-5523 Eugene, OR 9740y
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (503) 687-5262
TRAFFIC ADVISORY: PAVING WORKS STARTS ON WEST 11TH
Paving construction is scheduled to begin Thursday evening, September 19, on West 11th
Avenue between Tyinn Street and Beltiine Road.
The contractor on the West 1 Ith resurfacing project, Eugene Sand & Gravel, anticipates
that the main paving activity will take approximately seven days to complete. Most of the work
will be done at night, and flaggers will direct traffic at major intersections.
Work hours are 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. At least one of traffic will be maintained in each
direction on West 11th, and intersections and driveways will be kept open except for brief
periods when construction equipment is in an intersection or in front of a driveway.
Traffic signals will not operate on a normal cycle during the construction project, and
motorists are asked to be extra-cautious when flaggers and other construction workers are in the
roadway. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes such as Roosevelt Boulevard to avoid
construction delays.
For current information on this and other City construction projects, call the traffic relief
hotline at 984-8484.
