He plans to break ground in 1997. <br /> "I believe strongly in the Research Park. It's a great opportunity for companies who want a <br /> II connection with the research strengths at the University that compliments their own strengths. <br /> And it's good for Eugene. I've been on the lookout for an opportunity to put these together in a <br /> I, project. The time is right and the tenants are an excellent fit. "Campbell said. <br /> III Campbell told the Commission that Percon, Incorporated, a Eugene high tech company that <br /> designs, manufactures, and markets bar code-based data collection and data management <br /> i <br /> products, has signed an agreement and will be a tenant in the proposed multi-tenant building to <br /> be constructed in the southeast corner of the project. Percon expects to lease approximately <br /> ~ 25,000 square feet. The company currently employs 70 people. <br /> Dan Giustina, Riverfront Commission chair, complimented Percon on its decision to expand <br /> to the Research Park. "This is exactly the type of firm we anticipated wanting to be part of this <br /> ' development. Percon is engaged in research and development in a new and exciting field. They <br /> ~j have University ties. They're providing good jobs for people in our community." <br /> ~I University of Oregon Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Education, Steadman Upham <br /> said "Development of the Riverfront Research Park is a top priority of the University and we're <br /> enthusiastic about these plans. The proposed new building brings atechnology-related company <br /> III with ties to UO to the Park and provides expansion space for two of our start-up businesses. It's <br /> ~I, a perfect illustration of how the Park can work." <br /> Marker Gene Technologies and Electrical Geodesics, Inc., two high tech companies that are <br /> tenants in the park's Innovation Center, have also announced plans to expand into the new <br /> <br />
