i <br /> News Release -Willamette Street Reopening Festivities <br /> 'October 30, 19 6 <br /> Page 2 <br /> Here's more information about the scheduled festivities: <br /> Frida , 3 p.m. "Passport to a New Downtown" contest, coordinated by Downtown <br /> Eugene Inc., egins. <br /> Frida , 3 to 4 p.m. Fiddlin' Sue plays in the plaza. <br /> Frida , 5 p.m. Mayor Ruth Bascom, Lane County Commissioner Ellie Dumdi, Eugene <br /> Chamber of ommerce President Bob Fenstermacher and other local dignitaries dedicate Broadway <br /> Plaza, place t e final bricks in the plaza, and cut a ribbon to ceremonially reopen Willamette Street. <br /> As part of the festivities, large balloons will carry greetings from Chinju, Eugene's Korean sister <br /> <br /> ~ city, a short p rade will accompany the ribbon cutting, and a powerful searchlight will light up the <br /> evening sky. <br /> Frid y, 5:30 p.m. --Fred Crafts leads a "First Friday" gallery walk beginning at the <br /> Broadway PI za. <br /> Frid y, 6 to 9 p.m. "Happy Daze" street dance held on the plaza. <br /> 5atu day, noon to 5 p.m. --Family entertainment offered every hour on the plaza stage. <br /> Exhibits feat re children's art on the theme "Our Downtown." <br /> Satu day, 5 p.m. Drawing held for prizes in "Passport to a New Downtown" contest. <br /> All tivities are open to the public.
