<br /> C~NEWS01.18 Page 4 <br /> East Bank Bike Path <br /> Public Works employees are finalizing plans for the construction of the first section of the East Bank bike path. The <br /> City of Eugene will build the path from Beltline to Green Acres Road this summer. Valley River Village will construct <br /> the path between the Owasso bridge and Beltline. This will complete the first phase of the project. <br /> Preliminary design work has started on the section from the Valley River bike bridge to the Owasso bridge. Staff are <br /> 'defining the necessary easements and will begin doing appraisals and securing the righE~of--way later this year. <br /> The first section of the path will be constructed using money already allocated to the project. Remaining funds will be <br /> used to purchase the right-of-way needed for the next phases. Any excess money will be used to construct as much <br /> of the final section of the path as possible. <br /> Staff wilt explore Federal ISTEA money, Systems Development Charges, and any other appropriate sources to fund <br /> the remainder of the path construction.
