Public Works <br /> Administration <br /> City of Eugene <br /> <br /> ' 858 Pearl Street <br /> Eugene, OR 97401 <br /> JULY 26, 1 95 (503) 687-5262 <br /> CONTACT: Bob Staley, Project Manager, 687-5517 <br /> Jeff Lankston, 341-5866 <br /> From Public Information Section, 687-5523 <br /> FOR IMME IATE RELEASE <br /> WIL ETTE TO BE RESURFACED FROM 19TH TO 24TH AVENUES <br /> Work is scheduled to begin July 31 on a $300,000 project to resurface the badly <br /> deteriorated ection of Willamette Street between 19th Avenue and 24th Place. The paving <br /> contract awa ded by the City of Eugene to Eugene Sand & Gravel also includes repairs to <br /> 20th Avenue from Willamette to Oak Street. State gas tax receipts from the City's road fund <br /> <br /> j will be used o pay for the street preservation project. <br /> The ' provement work is scheduled to take approximately two weeks to complete. <br /> All work mu t be finished by August 18. During construction, motorists are encouraged to <br /> use alternate routes to avoid the construction area. Detours, delays, and lane changes should <br /> be expected n the following streets: <br /> • Wi amette Street will be reduced to one lane of southbound traffic, and all <br /> northbound affic will be detoured to the Amazon Parkway at 29th Avenue and 24th Avenue <br /> while the co tractor removes the existing asphalt from the concrete surface of Willamette, <br /> repairs dam ed concrete, installs a layer of rubberized asphalt to reduce surface cracking, <br /> and repaves a street with atwo-inch asphalt overlay. <br /> (more) <br /> I <br /> <br />
